Step 1: Prepare Your Sanctuary

The key to a true spa experience is the atmosphere. Before you begin, take a few moments to set the scene. Dim the lights, light a scented candle, and put on some calming music. Gather all the supplies you will need so you don't have to interrupt your moment of peace. You will need:

  • A large basin or foot spa
  • Warm water
  • Bath salts or essential oils
  • A fluffy towel
  • Nail clippers and a nail file or emery board
  • A cuticle pusher and nipper (optional)
  • A foot scrub (exfoliant)
  • A rich foot mask or a thick moisturising cream
  • Cotton socks (optional)

Step 2: The Soothing Foot Soak

This is the cornerstone of your home pedicure. The warm water will soften your skin, soothe tired muscles, and prepare your feet for the steps to follow. Fill your basin with warm, not hot, water.
